The Animal Network uses for the Partnerships feature.  Please see the About Partnerships section of this guide for more information.

The Animal Network is important because it does not depend on any external service to find homes for animals that are at-risk in their current environment.  It enables sharing of animals that are not necessarily available for adoption, like ones that are sick, under a hold, or are undergoing rehabilitation. It is a way that your organization and others can share the information about animals needing homes.

The benefits of the Animal Network include:

  • Not dependent on a third party adoption site to provide a search for animals.
  • Allows you a quick, easy way to share information.
  • Allows sharing of animals other than those that are available for adoption.
  • Restricts sharing of animals to those which have been shared on the Animal Network.

Searching for animals in need

You can search your existing partnerships for animals you may be able to transfer to your organization for adoption.  You have to have active partnerships before you can search, and only animals that the organization has shared will appear in your search results.

To search for animals:

  1. Go to the Animal Search page by clicking Animals > Network.
  2. If needed, select choices from the drop-down menus to narrow down your search results.
  3. Click an animal's name to view additional information about that animal.

Sharing your organization's animals

Each animal has a field named Shared.  You can select or deslect that Shared field as necessary to chose which animals are shared on the Animal Network.  In order for an animal to be visible on the Animal Network, the following conditions must be met:

  • You must have an active partnership in order for the other organization to see your shared animals
  • The animal's Shared field must be selected
  • The animal's status must be one of the following: Available, Sponsorship, Domestication, Not Available, Treatment, Free Roaming, Intake, Hold, Pending
