The Animal Browse page displays the adoptable animals in your organization from your website. This differs from the Animal Detail page. The Animal Detail page is the web page for one specific animal, and the Animal Browse page is the page that displays all or many of your adoptable animals. Here is an example of an Animal Browse page. The names of the animals are clickable links in this example. You can select that option as well. The browse page can be customized for your needs. This chapter explains that customization.

Below is an example of an Animal Detail page, or the animal's web page.

This feature is only available with the Website Service.

Where do I find it?

There are two areas which have to do with the Animal Browse page on your website. Both begin by going to Animals > Settings. From there, select either Animal Browse Page Fields or Animal Browse Page Settings.

Important first step

To allow your animals to be shown on your browse page, they must have one of the following Animal Statuses:

  • Available for Adoption
  • Available for Sponsorship
  • Adopted

Keeping animals away from public view

You may have reason to keep an animal from being seen by the public, for instance, an animal who has just been rescued and is so sick it's not known if it will make it. Or an animal you are holding for another rescue, you may not want to display it on your website.

You can hide the animal completely from the public by selecting a status like Hold, Pending, or Intake. Your volunteers will still see the animal in the Animal List, and you can find the animal using the Animal Search (Animals > Search).

For more information about understanding the animal status selections and changing them as the animal moves through your system, see the chapter, Managing animal status in this guide.
