Can you make it so you can choose the number to start at for Rescue ID? Specifically, so that numbering does not have to be restarted for those just starting to use the field but have been in business for a while?  Autonumbering is out of sequence with our current numbering.

This can be done by simply manually setting the Rescue ID on an animal to the desired format that matches the Auto Rescue ID setting. In that case, the next animal added would take the next number in the sequence.

For example, if your organization wants to use Species, Year, Count, and you want to start at #215 for Cats (C), you would set the previous animal's Rescue ID to C220214. The system will see that format and continue the numbering at the next number (C220215).

I just tried it and I just what a number, no C or date piece. Our numbering is in the 10K range, so the last number we have in RG is 10281. Yet when I create a new animal listing, the numbers are in the 100K range, and on the last try I got 100015. Does it only work if you do different for cat and dog and then also use a date? So if I swap over, it would be C220282, then if I do a dog it would be D220283? I want a total count vs separate for dogs and cats.

        Lyn,

Thanks for the follow-up information!  The counts in our system are by year and species. So the cat and dog numbers would be different (and not total).  So, the next numbers would be, for example, C220282 and D22008 (It would NOT be C220282, then D220283).

        Sincerely,

        Karen
