If you need to remove the registration for a microchip (ex., the animal is returned)because an animal was returned:

  1. Contact the microchip registry and request that the registration be removed.
  2. Once the registry confirms that the registration has been removed, go to Animals > Microchip Registrations in RescueGroups.org.  Select  
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the chip registrations you wish to remove.  Use  
  4. Use the drop-down down Actions menu to choose Delete.
  5. Re-register the microchip to the new owner.

If you want to remove a registration that failed with the status Error, and do not need to retry the registration because you have dealt with the situation:

  1. Go to Animals > Microchip Registrations in RescueGroups.org.  
  2. Select the checkboxes next to the chip registrations you wish to remove.  
  3. Use the drop-down Actions menu to choose Delete.

This typically means that the microchip has already been registered, so we cannot register it again through RescueGroups.org. You can confirm this by searching for the microchip on https://www.petlink.netIt is most likely the owners already registered their new pet directly, or the microchip is still registered to previous owners.
