Editing a website file

You can also change the status of an uploaded file from the Files list.  The change a file’s status, select the checkbox next to the file and click the appropriate button.  The file statuses are:

Mark Public:  Make the file available to be downloaded by non-volunteers (the public).

Mark Private:  Make the file available only to your organization’s volunteers.

Activate: The file can be used on your web site. It will appear in the Link dropdown when editing a web page.

Deactivate: The file still exists on the RescueGroups.org server, but you are not currently using the file on your website. The file will not be shown in the dropdowns.  It will also not be available for download.

Delete: Delete the file from the RescueGroups.org server. Once the file is deleted it cannot be recovered.

edit the information about your documents and files.  You can do this by clicking the Edit icon next to the file name in the Files list.

You can also select the file by clicking File ID, and from there you can view the information about the file or edit the information.  

NOTE: Clicking the file name opens the file.

Once you're in the Edit menu, you'll find that you can edit only a few things:

  • Description
  • Inline or not
  • Status
    • The Status refers to the status of the file on your website. 
    • You can choose to have it active, for those with the appropriate role to view or download, deactivated, which means the file continues to exist on the server but is not available, or you can delete it.
    • NOTE: Once a file is deleted, it is not available to be reactivated.

Deleting a website file

To delete a website file:

  1. Go to the Website > Files & Documents page.
  2. Selecting Select the check box checkbox next to the file(s) you want to delete.
  3. Select Delete from the Actions drop-down menu.
  4. Click OK.

Or:

  1. Open Edit for the file.
  2. Select Deleted from the radio buttons.
  3. Click Save.


Or:

  1. Click the File IDfrom the Files list.
  2. Click the Delete button.
