I've worked really hard at entering a description for a dog for adoption and I need to “BOLD” some important pertinent information.  I see there is a bold option.   However, when I then look at this pet in Petfinder there is no formatting?  However, I see it showing up in Adopt-a-Pet?  What is going on?

There are two versions of the animal description that is shared, one is the plain text version and the other includes any styling you may add, such as bold fonts, which are saved as the HTML version. When you edit an animal record, the text editor, by default, shows the HTML version with any styles added.

When we share your animal information to other sites, it is up to those sites to decide whether to display the HTML version or the plain text version. Adopt-a-Pet.com typically allows HTML formatted descriptions.

However, Petfinder will not allow any HTML formatting and only loads the plain text version. You can read more about Petfinder limitations in our guide here: Exporting animal data to Petfinder

Hopefully this clarifies why you may sometimes see the bold font in a listing and sometimes do not. Please let us know if you have additional questions!
