When a dog is returned should his status be changed to returned or available?

      Krista,

      That would depend on whether or not you want the dog posting to your website and/or exports.  If you mark the animal as "available" it will export/show while "returned" would keep it as private view.  You can read more about which status display on your website and/or export in our guide here: Managing animal status

        One additional note. With the Data Management Service and Website service, you may want to use the Animal Returns feature. This would then allow you to track past adoptions/adopters for that animal without deleting that information. If the animal is not ready to go live, then you could use the status of "Hold" or "Intake". If you are ready to display the animal, then you would use the status "Available".
