It appears that you have been the unfortunate target of a phishing Bitcoin Ransom Email attempt. Sadly, these are a very common occurrence on the internet, but do not be concerned - it is really just spam.
Phishing is the fraudulent practice of sending emails purporting to be from reputable companies in order to induce individuals to reveal personal information, such as passwords and credit card numbers or to blackmail readers for money. Your attacker simply forged the From: address to be the same as the To: address in their email, so it looked as though it had been sent from your applications mailbox, but it has not. That action is called email spoofing, and not something that can be prevented by your Email Host.
While it’s generally safe to ignore spam emails like this, some people will want reassurance. You can almost always get this by searching the web for one or two sentences from the email and you should find that you can locate a published version of this email by sites such as Reddit who do so to help the public confirm a message is a scam and spam. You can also do an internet search for the phrase "phishing email that tried to blackmail" to learn more. We would recommend that you tag the email as spam to encourage the proper identification of emails like this in the future.Please note, while your user credentials have always been stored safely within RescueGroups.org without incident, we cannot promise that to be true on the user end.
