Krista - I think I know what you're seeing. The dropdown list works very strangely - I actually would consider it a bug - but I think it's just the way it's designed.
When you click on the dropdown on the Foster field in the Animal Listing - it pre-populates "enter text to search" in the field and below it says "loading data". Then if you just sit there and wait - the "Loading.." changes to "No items found". That's because it can't find a Foster Contact that matches "enter text to search". You actually have to delete the words "enter text to search" and then when the box is empty it will search and find all of your foster contacts! Or you could put an actual name in the search box.
