I am SO disappointed that there STILL is no update or fix for this PROBLEM

I just created several new profiles, uploaded dozens of photos, and see that nearly half of them are facing in the wrong direction, one is even completely upside down! So now, I need to go back to each one, edit so it looks wrong on my computer - guessing which way to rotate, and re-upload and check everything again. Thereby, quadrupling the amount of work simply to have photos display correctly.

    PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE

And NOW, after wasting time rotating a photo just 90 degrees, and uploading, it is displaying rotated in the OPPOSITE direction!

    From this

    to this

    This is beyond unacceptable

On your computer, before you uploaded it, it may have looked upright, but I have found that RG isn’t intuitive with pictures like computers and phones are. So you need to open the picture on your computer, edit it and rotate it all the way around and then save it. Delete the picture in RG and re-upload it. That usually works for me

Andrea is absolutely correct.  There are videos that can show you how to rotate them:

just watched the video for doing the rotate process - over 13 steps to fix a problem that should not have to be on something as basic as uploading a photo.  (sad)

    Traci,

I have not been involved since 2015, so I do not know all the improvements.  However, in the last year we have placed several new servers online, added several new guides, added over a dozen user videos, made major improvements to our API just to name a few.  I understand that you are upset that this improvement has not been added.  Often, something seemingly small like that can be quite difficult to implement. That being said I want to re-emphasize our development team is aware of the requests.  I am sincerely sorry for your inconvenience, but right now I can only emphasize the voting for issues and give you workarounds.

    Sincerely,

    Karen

Yes. As mentioned previously in this thread (Why are my animal photos sideways or upside down?), to need to create yet another registration in order to be able to vote or comment on feature requests is most likely why they don't receive many votes or comments.

I see that these requests were opened in 2015 and 2017 and both were classified as priority.

What improvements are you referring to that supposedly have been made?

        Traci and group,

Your feedback has been received.  We have a couple of improvement requests in relation to this issue.  The votes on the feature requests greatly influence our development team in where to apply our resources as they become available.  We value your feedback and recommend you vote for the feature requests you would like to see implemented in future updates.

I found that when I take the pictures, I immediately go into my gallery, edit the picture to remove any extra that doesn't need to be there and save it. This solves the problem for me. I think the problem is not so much RG as it is the number of different photo-taking devices on the market. Not just a smart phone, but there is Android and there is iOS, there are cameras, both the automatic point and shoots as well as the old fashioned/modern technology ones and however it's set up with RG, they're not catching up. Personally, I think this is the cheapest website program going - so I'll put up with this inconvenience.

            Traci,

We are constantly implementing improvements, and some improvements are much harder to implement than others.  We are sorry for your displeasure and apologize for the inconvenience.  We value your feedback.

            Sincerely,

            Karen

Thank you for your quick reply. It just seems very odd to me that a "rotate image" option is not available. And I was very surprised to discover that I would need to check whether or not any of our profiles would have photos displaying sideways after uploading.

It's very frustrating that users have been reporting this issue for years, and the very basic feature to rotate  photos on the site is still not available.

It is making a lot of extra work to have to go back to our original photos, edit them so that they now appear sideways on our own computers, then re-upload them in order for them to display properly!

Over the past two days, I created new profiles for several dozen animals taken in by our rescue group. I never felt any need to "proofread" uploaded photos, as it never occurred to me that they would display any differently. Now I need to go back through about 30+ profiles, check the images, and spend even more time locating and editing I don't know how many, and then going back to each of those profiles and re-uploading rotated photos.

I am NOT a happy camper.
