Yes, your plan should work. Although it's not guaranteed, it should allow you to see which contacts were added since the date you noted the highest ID.

We are looking into sending out a mailing to our new contacts every once in a while. There does not seem to be a date associated with the creation of the contact record that would let me know when new contact was added. I did notice that there is a "Contact ID" field. This looks to me as if it might be incremented as contacts are added. I realize that a contact might be a volunteer or an adopter or whatever. That does not matter for our purpose. My thought is that I could run a report on the contacts in the system at this time and do a mailing. If I note the highest value of the "Contact ID" and then maybe 6 months from now generate the same report and only mail the contacts with a "Contact ID" greater that the last one noted, then that should work??
