What does "force login" do in the user login accounts?

I thought it did something other than what it actually does.  Am now curious what does it actually do?

      Deborah,

      The main purpose of the Force Login option on a user is to force a user to login after changing their permissions.  However, this option is not needed, since permissions changes are instant.  In other words, if you make a change to a user's permissions, that change will take immediate effect, regardless if the user is logged in or not.
