Is there a reason why some photos are not updating on Petfinder?

It seems that some of our photos are not updating correctly on Petfinder. This is starting to cause confusion with potential adopters because they are still seeing pictures of tiny kittens instead of one that is six months old...and we've been getting yelled at...

      Jessica,

      There are multiple bugs and deficiencies in the Petfinder import system that affect pictures, including:

      1. once a pet has a picture added, that picture will never change.  You can add new pictures, for example, if the pet has one picture you can add two additional ones, but the original one will never change, and
      2. since Petfinder's update around 6/14/17, pet pictures are added in a seemingly random order.

      There are additional issues and bugs mentioned on this page: Exports to the Petfinder website.

      These issues have been well documented, and are well known by Petfinder support staff, so I'm not sure why they didn't mention them.

      Petfinder may be able to force your pets' pictures to update (reprocess) but the automated upload process cannot.

      I'm really sorry for the inconvenience, but there is nothing that RescueGroups.org can do to resolve the issues.

      The best suggestion we have is to delete the pet from your Petfinder pet list and allow the import to add the pet again, which will have the new pictures, albeit still in the wrong order.

        Maybe it's because Petfinder only allows 3 pics so it's only grabbing the first 3 pics from Rescuegroups. That's just my 2 cents

          There are only three pics on her page and they are out of order on the petfinder page making it seem like she's a tiny kitten. Not the only page this happening to...I know because I've had ten emails about it today...

          We are having the same problem where Petfinder is only pulling 3 pictures even though we have at least 5  or 6 pictures in Rescuegroups.

          However, we just recently transitioned to the automatic export to Petfinder, and prior to that, we ALSO had 5 - 6 pictures in Petfinder. The limit is definitely not 3 in Petfinder. In fact, you can clearly 6 six slots on the pro dashboard.

          Our issue is not that they are only pulling three photos. (smile) This kitty only ever had three photos, so that is fine. The issue is that the photos are not in the right position making her look like an itty bitty kitten and not a six month old.

          I contacted RG support and they told me to contact PF support.

          PF said that they don't know why this is happening and to give me examples.  So I gave them all the names of all the dogs that we had pictures that weren't listed in the correct order.  PF support fixed them all for me, but it continues to happen with new dogs I add.  It's on their end.
