Adoptions: Returned animals - date of return

My group would like to begin using the 'return' functionality for adoptions. I do not see an option to add 'date of return'. This is important to us as some dogs are returned within a week, others come back after months or even years.

      We use "private notes" under "additional notes" because there is usually some or much information attached so that we  can track why the animal was returned.  When you write a report, filter on "notes" and MAKE SURE that you have used the word "returned" in the note-(or whatever your choice is).  Maybe the wrong way, but it works for us for now.  Please let me know if there is an easier way.  I don't see any way to distinctly put in a date of return, so we put all of the history in the Private Notes area.  Not the best, but at least you can get the info to narrow down.

      Filters:
          Add a filter to the custom report. 
      No filters.
      Add a filter
      Add a Filter for View Custom Animals Report

        We have been using the journal entries to enter a return date- might be a workaround.
