I'm not sure what roles need to be given to allow a foster home to update their fosters.

If you'd like a volunteer to be able to edit one of their fosters:

      1. First make sure the Contact record is added to the Group: Caretaker/Foster
      2. Edit the animal, under Administrative Information select the contact that is fostering the animal
      3. Next, add the Roles: Volunteer and Animal Foster Update

The foster home can now edit their fosters when logged in with their username.

I have been going through this with my volunteers and I have found that to fully manage an animal multiple permissions are required.

To update animal basics then add the roles volunteer and animal foster update.

To update animal journals (medical history) add journal admin.

To update media for animals add media user or admin.

To update files (vet info or other types of files) then they need the role doc admin.

It depends on  how much access your volunteers need.  I have remote volunteers that need to manage almost everything about their animals but I don't want to give full system admin access to so all of the other roles are necessary to add.
