The new owner does not have an email address for us to use, and the email address is required for microchip registration.

We posed this question to FreePetChipRegistry, and here was their response:

An email address is a required field.  Should you have the occasional client that does not have an email address, it is strongly encouraged that they provide one from a friend or relative.  When your pet is lost and found, you will receive voice, text and email messages at both the primary and secondary contacts that are included in your registration.  Should you not have an email address at all a "fake" email address will need to be added to your registration, as it is a required field for the registration.  It will need to be a "unique" email address that is not already in the system and can look something like this:  123xyz@fakemail.com.

We use the rescue's email address, when this happens.
