I am a business analyst by day and want to be able to write far more in depth queries and data analysis than what is provided in RescueGroups as a standard set of reports. I have seen mention of using the API to query data, but I have no idea what that means?? Any help?

      Julia,

The API is a way that computer systems can talk to each other.  You could use a program to communicate with the API to export data from your account, but it would be raw data.  You would have to create the reports that you need, and possibly correlate disperse data (like Animals and Contacts and Donations, etc).  Here's a link to the API Developer's Guide: https://userguide.rescuegroups.org/x/QQCl

We do plan to improve the reporting engine in the future, but I don't have an ETA for those improvements.

An alternative would be for you to create a mock-up of the report(s) that you need and then we might be able to create them as built-in reports.
