For instance, by calculating the time between the Available Date and Adopted Date. Is there a way to do this for each animal and generate into a report with the number of days for the column?

This would be INCREDIBLY helpful. In a perfect world it would even take into account time spent adopted (for a returned animal), but even one that calculates date received to date adopted would be wonderful. Received to now is only useful for current dogs, and we would like to look at more data than that.

Jessica, you can use the Days in Rescue field on the custom Animal reports.  It is calculated from the Received Date to today's date... which is not accurate if the animal has been in your care more than once.

The other option would be to use the Intakes and Outcomes feature of the Data Management service, but the only available report at this time is the Asilmoar report, which reports on rescue-wide point-in-time animal "inventory".

    Hope that helps.

      Hi Richard,

I am not seeing the Days in Rescue field can you give step by step instructions?

I am not following what you mean by use intakes and outcomes of data management service.

The Asilomar does not give a LOS.

That's correct, Asilomar does not give length of stay. Using the Intakes and the Outcomes features of the Data Management service (those options are under the Animals menu) you can use the Asilomar reports, but that does NOT give you length of stay, only a point-in-time animal inventory. If you'd like to use the Days in Foster field you can run any report or edit any animal view and add that field. If you are having trouble doing that please open a support ticket and we'd be happy to help you directly.

The intakes and outcomes - how is it possible that we are getting negative lengths of stay on pets who were adopted and then returned then adopted again?

    4. Richard [RG]

      Ariel,

The length of stay is only a date calculation from Received Date to today's date.  A negative length of stay would probably mean one of the dates is in the future.  Please open a support ticket if you need more help.

      Richard

The length of stay should not be calculated with today's date. I am looking to calculate the average length of stay for all animals last year and then break it down by species. All I need is Intake date and Outcome date and I can do the rest. But I cannot seem to get those dates on the same report. Am I missing something? Where can I get that data on a report?
