Why are my animal photos sideways or upside down?

      This can happen with both Mac and PC users. If you are seeing your images from your phone or computer rotated when you upload, please read the information below.

      When you take a photo, most devices have an option to "auto-rotate" so that when you view it on your phone or computer, it automatically rotates the image. That rotation information is like a little sticker on the image. and is not actually saved with the image. When you upload your photo to the web, the sticker with that rotation information to rotate is missing.

      You will need to use an application that re-saves the image so it "saves" the rotation data. You'll know you are saving it with the rotation data if you have to select "file > save as".

      To hopefully alleviate this problem, we've added a request to add the ability to rotate uploaded pictures.

        I second the frustration we all feel. Why can't rescuegroups.org do something about this. I spent two hours this weekend trying to get the photos to be right side up. I did what is suggested above. Nothing worked. Give me a break! We are trying to get pets adopted and I want to throw in the towel.

          I've done uploads for month from my iphone to the ipad when suddenly one day they started going sideways when no other factors had changed. This is actually a bug than a feature request because it worked fine until two weeks ago. Seems like this is an on-going problem for years. I loved the software because it was so easy to use but now it's added hours of extra work a week just to flip pictures if I want it to look correct on Petfinder and Adopt a pet, etc. Since I lack the time to do that (because of other shelter duties) our profiles look kind of junky now (as if we don't know how to upload a picture properly). Please fix this on your end Rescue Groups.

            Apparently we need to create yet another profile in order to be able to comment or vote on this issue at the link provided CMTY-134 - Add ability to rotate pictures Open .

            I am very disappointed to see that there are many complaints, over years, and yet this very basic feature has not yet been added.
