In this situation, the Relationships feature with "Adopt Together" was used for both Popsicle and the sibling.
To resolve this, the Relationship setting "Adopt Together" was changed from "Yes" to "No" which removed the (MUST BE ADOPTED...) message on the animal name on the adoption application.

We have a cat whose name is Popsicle, with a status of Available. Previously, Popsicle's name line said "Popsicle (MUST BE ADOPTED WITH CREAMSICLE)". We edited Popsicle's name entry to just Popscicle due to the death of the sibling. Unfortunately, when a potential adopter fills out our adoption application, the drop down menu still lists Popsicle with the additional verbiage noted above.
