How to create your import data file

If you are building an import file for your organization, you will need to make sure your import file uses the fields and formatting described in our Animal Import Fields article. If you are using a third party system to import your data automatically, they may be able to create this file for you.

Sample data file

We've created a very simple Excel spreadsheet that might help you with your animal data file format.  It's meant to be a help if you need RescueGroups.org to do a one-time quick import (not regular FTP upload) of your animal information.  Do not use this file if you are building a CSV file to FTP to us -- instead use the information in the section of this guide: Importing animal data into your account
