Using the HTTP API can I list animals that have a Pending animal status?

I'm trying to list out animals that just have a status of Pending but I'm not getting any results. I'm only getting results for Available and Adopted. Is there a way to do this with the API using the publicSearch action?

      Darin,

      The Pending animal status is, by default, not publicly available data. This would mean that animals with the Pending status would not be returned in a publicSearch action. Some organizations may choose to set this status as a public status, but that is entirely up to the organization. You can read more about animal statuses here: Managing animal status
